This year's Friends of West Barnes Library membership cards are now available at the Library counter.  Please swap your old Friends' card for the new (pale yellow) one when you're next in.

If you visit the Library, you will notice that the redecoration of the children's section is now under way.

COMPUTER CLASSES FOR BEGINNERS.  1.00pm--2.00pm.  Booking essential.

POLICE SURGERY.  One Monday each month, 1.00pm--2.00pm.  A chance for residents to discuss issues and concerns with their local police officers.  No need to book.  (All being well, details of which Monday in any month should be posted up in the library!)

ENGLISH CONVERSATION CAFE.  From 16 September, Mondays, 1.00pm--2.00pm.  Practice and improve your English with our new coffee and chat hour.  We have a regular volunteer to host the event.  Tea, coffee and biscuits provided; no need to book.

READING OUT LOUD.  4.00pm--5.30pm.  1:1 reading sessions for children aged 6+. Term-time only.  Booking essential.

SCRABBLE CLUB.   5.00pm--6.00pm.  Come and join us every Monday - all ages and abilities welcome!  No booking required.

NEW SPANISH CLASS for beginners.  From Monday 9 September and then every Monday, 5.30--6.45pm.  Informal sessions; no booking, just drop in!


KIDDIRAMA TOTS term-time only, pyjama or teddy theme. 10.00am--11.00am, on Tuesdays.  Theatrical Tuesdays is jam-packed with stories, drama, songs, movement and games.  0--5 year olds, £1.50 per child. For more info visit or email: text: 07542 170604.

LOCAL HISTORY TALK.  17 September, 10.30am--12 noon.  A family affair: the story of Lines Bros. and Triang Toys, by Sarah Gould.  Admission free; refreshments provided; no need to book.

RENDEZVOUS CLUB. 1.30pm--3.30pm.  Weekly drop-in for over 55s. Get together for tea, cake, quiz, talks, trips out and much more. £2 a week to cover costs. For details, talk to library staff or call Gilli on 020 8543 1781.‚Äč


KNIT & NATTER.   11.00am--1.00pm.  Bring your knitting or crochet. We are a small group of regular knitters. We also knit items for various charities or for sale to raise money for them.  Free tea or coffee provided.

FALUN DAFA. T5.30pm--6.30pm.  Falun Dafa or Falun Gong is a traditional Chinese qigong meditation practice to improve mind and body, with simple easy to learn exercises for all ages and abilities.  No booking required.

BINGO WITH A DIFFERENCE!   19 September from 7.30pm.  £5 entry for 7 rounds.  Please book in advance with Library staff.


FABULOUS FRIDAYS!  10.00am--11.45am, term time only, pyjama or teddy theme.  £1.50 per child per session.  Make Move & Melody Time, followed by Book Time (10.00 am--10.45am, for 18 mths to 5 years old; babies welcome).  Rock Rhyme & Rhythm Time, followed by Book Time (10.45am--11.45am; babies to 18 months, older children welcome).

ANCESTRY ONLINE SUPPORT.   20 September, 2.00pm--3.30pm.  Learn how to use the Ancestry website and discover your family roots.  Limited spaces, so please book your place with library staff.
